I think fit and flare dresses are so cute – just not necessarily on me.  I have a thicker waist and the whole concept of a fuller skirt making your waist look smaller doesn’t always play out that way on my frame.  Nevertheless, I fell in love with the deep pink of this dress and couldn’t resist.

I guess the idea of this that little story is yes, dressing for your body type is generally a good idea, but it doesn’t have to be a hard and fast rule.  Sometimes you cast it all aside for that occasional piece you really like.  At the very least, try it on and how it looks.  Otherwise you’ll never know.

On this particular day, we were battling wind and I was having a hilarious time with my hair flying everywhere.  I was more concerned about having an impromptu Marilyn Monroe-type moment, but fortunately the dress fabric was heavy enough to stay in place.  Once I realized that I decided I’d just go with it all have fun.

So here I am with my fit and flare dress, my thick waist, a windy day, and crazy hair.  And I’m having a blast.  So for today at least, to heck with dressing for my shape!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Helen
