Getting Wedding-Ready

Leading up to my daughter’s wedding there were a lot of products I used to get ready.  In truth, I use most of these products all the time.   Some I tried for the first time last week.  One was a purchase error (I thought I bought a lotion but I actually bought a cleanser).  I thought I’d let you know how everything performed.

Given my love of coffee and red wine, a routine of teeth-whitening is a must.  I initially whitened through my dentist, and have since used an at-home system to maintain the results.  I had success using whitening gels, but the addition of a UV light has really made a difference.  There can be some discomfort from sensitivity.  If you’ve never whitened your teeth it’s something to be aware of.  It’s a normal, if unpleasant, side effect.  To me – completely worth it.  To  help combat the sensitivity, I recommend a toothpaste like Sensodyne, and a remineralization gel.  I also don’t recommend using whitening gel every day.  Even the hardiest of teeth will experience sensitivity.  For everyday maintenance I’ve been using Crest 3D White and I’ve been pleased.

The wedding was outdoors in the grass and I was wearing Valentino Rockstuds, which have very skinny heels.  I decided to try some heel stops rather than risk sinking into the earth.  Once I put them on, I didn’t give them another thought and felt very comfortable walking to my seat.  I’d say that’s a good sign.  Unfortunately I gave them so little thought I forgot to remove them before the reception and ended up losing one, possibly on the dance floor, possibly back in the dirt.  I chose size Extra Small and found the fit was very good.  The product information provides measuring instructions for sizing.

Another new product was L’Oreal Infallible, a foundation you can find in any drugstore.  I’d heard good things about it and really liked the coverage.  I went a bit heavier because of all the photos than I would for everyday use.  It works well with both heavy hand and light touch.  Once I found the right color (I checked some open smaples at a local store), I was really excited.  I love the feel and the coverage.

To keep my hair smooth, I used my standby, Madison Reed “Tame.”  It does a great job of managing flyaways without weighing my hair down and adds a pretty sheen.  I use it often because I like the way it looks and feels.

I finished my look with LipSense “Napa” following by “Diamond Gloss.”  It’s a fabulous deep pink that goes well with a wide range of colors.  Even better, it stays in place all night long, through dinnere, dancing and several glasses of water!  I’ve purchased several colors from my friend and LipSense distributor, Wendy.  Message me to connect with her.  She’s fantastic!

Well, that’s my round-up of the basics to get Wedding Day-ready!  Check my previous posts for my mother-of-the-bride dress and stay tuned for the look I wore to the rehearsal dinner.

Happy Friday!
