Ah, autumn.  In the southwest we don’t get changing leaves and crisp mornings, but we do get football!  It’s one of the many things I love about this season.  Although I love the Arizona Cardinals and I’m so happy to see their success, I’ve always been a Redskins girl.  I lived outside Washington, D.C. when the ‘Skins rose from oblivion to contention.  Although everyone associates Vince Lombardi with the Green Bay Packers and their overwhelming success, not many know he also coached the Washington Redskins in the final year before his death.  He was the coach planting the seed of promise to a team that had seen little success in the Superbowl era.  Since that time, it’s been a roller coaster ride for fans of the team of our nation’s capital.  But really, hasn’t that been the case for most of the league?

With football starting this week, I thought I’d show one of my game day looks.  I’ve been known to go over the top with a team sideline hat( I have a few), a jacket and/or logo shorts.  I even wear a logo Santa hat at Christmas.  🙂  Today’s look is more about a more mainstream Game Day look, especially if I’m watching the game away from home.  And though the team doesn’t travel to the west coast often, I’ve been able to attend a game or two since moving to California and then Arizona.

To be honest, I’m no student of the game.  I don’t know much about offensive schemes and defensive strategies, but I love to watch teams in action.  The ability of the players, the mental steel it takes to pull a team from a nearly insurmountable deficit to make the game-winning play, the antics of my favorite morning pre-game show – it’s all part of what I love about football.  So although I love blanket scarves, pumpkin spice lattes, harvest decorations and fall-scented candles, I also love football.  How about you?

Helen
