Making a Statement

How do you feel about statement pieces? As a fashion blogger I’m all for them! I love a cool fashion focal point, something a bit out of the ordinary. For a former wallflower, this did not come naturally.  I wanted to fly under the radar as much as possible.  Now?  I’ll try all kinds of looks.  It’s like a grown-up version of playing dress up.

This top isn’t too crazy, but the neckline grabbed my attention.  It’s different and I like it.  Although full, unstructured tops don’t usually work for me (most make me look really heavy) I like the way this one fits.  Perhaps it’s the drape of the fabric, but I don’t feel like a circus tent.  I helped the situation by choosing pants that tend to be form fitting through the buns and thighs, while the wider boot cut balances the top’s proportions.

I’m still surprised Thanksgiving is later this week.  It came so quickly!  Yes, it’s earlier in the month this year, but it still!  Am I bad to think how rough basic shopping will be now until after Christmas.  Andy and I buy a lot of groceries at Sam’s Club and you know that’s going to take some planning for the next six weeks or so.  We have the business membership so we can hit the store an hour or so before the general public most days, which is a huge bonus this time of year.  Yes, I’m a blogger who should be all over the Black Friday sales, but I’m being real for a minute.  Holiday sales can make normal shopping pretty difficult.  Sigh.

But the holiday season is here and there will be many fun events to attend and friends to see.  And of course there will be some killer sales happening as well. 🙂

Happy Monday – I hope you’ll be enjoying a short work week!
