It’s wedding season!  Well, rumor has it.  I found this beautiful peach lace dress and thought it would be perfect.  The colors are spot on for this time of year, and the cut is feminine but tailored.

Dressing for weddings can be a challenge.  Etiquette cautions us to avoid outshining the bride.  Our egos tell us to look our absolute best because we’ll see people we haven’t seen in years, and we certainly wouldn’t want to leave a bad impression!  What is a lady of elegance to do?

To wear white as a wedding guest is the ultimate faux pas, of course.  Although I’ve worn a cream-colored dress to a wedding in the past, as more brides opt for antique white or cream themselves I would avoid that color now.  In truth, I have rarely seen a wedding where a guest overshadows the bride, except once when a couple of the younger ladies were dressed like they were going clubbing.  The whispers behind their backs were most unflattering.

The moral of that story? Choose tasteful and elegant, with an emphasis on understatement.  And have a wonderful time!
