I love the look of winter white. At times I think I would love to decorate my house in a winter white palette with a soft, furry white rug to anchor the look. Then I remember our large dogs and all the dirt they track in. Um, yeah. Not happening.
A light-colored monochrome look needs texture to keep it interesting. If you’ve looked at white or cream interior design schemes, you usually find a multitude of textures including faux fur (my dream rug), chunky knits and fabrics in both heavy weaves and smooth silks and satin.
I used the same principal in today’s look, mixing a smooth knit top with a slightly thicker sweater. I saved the heavy fabric for this tweed Banana Republic skirt I fell in love with and scooped up on sale. I couldn’t help myself – a couple of cheesy mugs for the camera this week.
I can’t have my rug, but I can still enjoy a winter white look. I just have to avoid the dogs before I head out the door!
