If you’re like me you’re really excited to bring fall colors back into your wardrobe. Having said that, I also like these blush tones right now because they’re so unexpected. In fact, I’m a big fan of neutrals throughout the year. Neutrals are appropriate in every season. Weather may dictate the type of fabric and number of layers we choose, but the colors, from beige to tan to cream to light pink, can be worn year ’round. What I especially like about this color scheme is the ease with which anyone can find a flattering hue. Blush tones flatter almost every skin tone. A little pink can be very warming to your complexion. It seems counter-intuitive – a more yellow-based beige seems as though it would be the “warmer” color – but it can actually make skin look sallow. Even beige walls, if they lean toward pink, cast a more flattering light to a room’s occupants.
Blush tones work as a neutral shade, especially if you have pale skin like I do. I love the pale pink color as well as the fun detail of this dress. It’s at a great price point as well. The crisscross pattern is created by one long piece of fabric that actually wraps around the dress multiple times so it takes a little work to put it on. The piece doesn’t detach so you want to make sure that piece is correctly wrapped front to back before you try pulling it on. There’s no way to fix it once it’s over your head. I got myself into a bit of a tangle trying it on while I was home alone. I’m sure I looked hilarious trying to make it work. I eventually realized I had to take it off and start again. 🙂
I went minimalist with everything else, from the clutch to the general lack of jewelry. I probably could have added earrings, but the watch seemed enough at the time. It’s rare to find sleeves that are too long for my orangutan arms, but when I do, I wear the watch over my sleeve for practicality and because it makes it’s own little fashion statement. If the watch is pretty, why hide it?
Speaking of hiding, here’s a side note – sort of. I’m trying to take more pictures without sunglasses. Sunnies are a great way to hide crow’s feet, but that’s not why I always wear them. 🙂 In truth, we take most of our photos outside and I have such a hard time keeping my eyes open in the bright sunlight. It doesn’t matter what angle I choose relative to the sun, it’s so hard not to squint. My eyes are so sensitive to sunlight I even have a pair of sunglasses for overcast days! With Haute Business I’ve wanted to be open and approachable, which is how I am in person. If I’m always behind a pair of sunglasses, is that the message I’m conveying?
Have a wonderful Monday!
I think it’s fun to wear all colors all the different seasons! Being unexpected adds some much needed surprise to our outfits!!
Great dress!
I totally know what you mean about the sunglasses and sensitive eyes!

Hi Jodie,
That bright sun can really mess with our photo game, can’t it? Where I live we have about 360 days of bright sunshine a year. There’s no shortage of vitamin D or squinting face shots!
