Today’s look is about burgundy accents, including these cute little flats.  Contrary to popular belief, I don’t always wear heels.  Granted, I wear them a lot but sometimes your day calls for flats.  Since my knee surgery last January, sometimes my body calls for flats!  I found this adorable burgundy pair at Target recently.  They were in my basket faster than you can say, “New shoes.”  They come in a variety of colors, including a fun plaid, and they’re the perfect suede texture for fall.

You have probably figured out burgundy is my favorite fall color.  I love the richness of the hue.  The fact that it is often named after may favorite adult beverage (it’s often also called “wine” and “Merlot”) doesn’t hurt either.  🙂  But honestly, even if you named it “beer” I would wear it.  Often.

With age comes wisdom, so the story goes, and I’m learning to be wise enough to opt for flats when my knee dictates.  I know heels are the worst thing for knees but I usually can’t help myself.  I’m 5’5″ on a good day, but I like being 5’8″ or better.  I also think legs look better is heels.  Vanity, thy name is woman.  However, if my knee hurts or if I’m going to be walking a lot, I am getting better at giving in to common sense and opting for the more appropriate shoe.  I also love Toms.  Around the house and at the beach I love Rainbow flip flops, the absolute best flip flops in the world, but they’re not exactly a cold-weather shoe. Whoops! Bunny trail.  Sorry.

Back to fall.  I know a lot of people raise an eyebrow at same-hue accessories, but when you mix up the textures it doesn’t feel so matchy-matchy to me.  It’s just an easy way to dress up jeans and a tee with a fall vibe, and create a perfect weekend on-the-go look.
