I love a black and white look. But I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t throw in an unexpected accent once in a while (okay, more than once in a while). What do you think of this pop of yellow? In retrospect, I wish I’d added another pop of color on my lips. The nude shade looks a little bland. Oh, well.
Summer is slowly giving way to fall in some areas of the country. Many schools are back in session and we’re a little tired of the summer pieces in our closets. Transition is the catch phrase right now, but this look, with bright yellow pumps, is unabashedly summer. That’s okay – it was 112 degrees today and will be in triple digits for a few more weeks here. Transition sounds fabulous, but many of those transition pieces are a little heavy when the temps are that high. Such is life in the southwest. We’re late to the fashion party in the fall, but we get sweet revenge a few months later when we can break out new spring looks much earlier than everyone else.
I got such a kick last year, though, shopping n San Diego in September. It was a beautiful 80 degree day, perfect for shorts or a sundress. Weather be damned – would-be fashionistas were desperate to wear their new fall clothes. Suede over-the-knee boots, jeans and – are you kidding me? – sweaters were seen everywhere! Crazy! How those sweet girls weren’t dropping from heat exhaustion is beyond me.
How do you deal with seasonal transition? Are you ready to deal with a little discomfort to don your fall apparel early? Or does comfort take precedent over fresh-season style?
I’ll confess, I’m more into comfort. I’ve always been a bit heat intolerant (remind me why I live in the desert?) but occasional pre-menopausal hot flashes made last summer miserable! I think I’m over the worst though, so now I’m just back to, “man, it’s hot.” I’ll show some transitional looks, but in reality I won’t be wearing most of them for a while.
I hope you’re able to stay cool in your neck of the wood. Thanks you so much for stopping by!
