I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you velvet is such a hot trend this fall. It’s such a luxurious fabric, so soft yet so elegant, you wonder why it took so long to reclaim its status as a fashion favorite. I used to sew a lot growing up, and I remember choosing velvet to make a dress for a junior high dance. I felt so dressed up! No wonder velvet has been considered a royal fabric through the ages.
I’ve been admiring the velvet trend while waiting for our balmy weather to cooperate with fall fashion. When I saw this lovely piece by J.Jill, in Bordeaux no less, there was no question it would find its way into my closet! I absolutely love the details. You know with J.Jill you’re going to find a perfect marriage of style and comfort. The color is so rich, I couldn’t resist going all in with everything burgundy. A complete saturation of wine, so to speak. 🙂
Once again, here’s a beautiful shirt with such potential for variety. I love the modified peplum style, and it goes great with jeans. I’m also planning on pairing it with the usual suspects – black denim, leather leggings, OTK boots. I think it will also look great over a long slim skirt. Whichever way you style velvet, can you think of a better way to dress for fall?
Have a fabulous Thursday!
